As a new school year approaches, so does an exciting year of sports and events for our
students. The Grosse Ile Athletic Booster Club wants to see our student athletes have a fun and
exciting year. To support these athletes, our first request is that you assist our efforts financially
by joining as a member. The current membership fee is $35 and is the easiest way for you to
contribute. If your children are participating in school athletics on Grosse Ile, we are helping to
fund them in some way and we ask that you join us in supporting them and the rest of the

schools athletic efforts.

Athletics provide a foundation of teamwork, critical thinking skills and leadership development.
The funding needed to keep these programs in place increases annually. This is where our
efforts become vital to their success. We have been fortunate to have the Athletic Boosters to
reduce this deficit, funding significant department expenditures every year, including team
uniforms . These expenses generally run between $25,000 and $40,000 per year. While we do
put on fundraisers during the year, an extremely important part of our funding comes from

memberships.

We also want to extend a warm welcome to our families to join the fun and help run the
Athletic Boosters. All members are welcome at our meetings, which are held the second
Wednesday of each month at 7:00pm at the High School. If you are interested in attending,

Athletic Director, at oklerj@gischools.org, to confirm the date and specific location. Getting
involved lets you shape when and where our funds are spent and gives you an up-close seat for
decisions about Grosse Ile Athletics. We also welcome any and all assistance with our

fundraisers, even just attending them!

Funds raised through our membership drive, comedy show, golf outing, legacy brick sales, and
concessions support all of our sports teams. Our next exciting fundraiser to mark your
calendars for is the 2024 GIAB Golf Outing which will be held on Saturday, September 14th at
the Grosse Ile Golf & Country Club. It is always a great time, so please save the date and be on

the lookout for more information in the near future.
